Now, I'll warn you ahead of time...this post is going to be full of complaining and whining. I don't expect you to read through the whole thing, but if you do and then find yourself in a crappy mood...welp, you'd been warned.
Over the past 3 days, our area has been pounded by some pretty severe weather...wind, rain, tornadoes, flash flooding, etc. Last night, just before the hubster and I headed up to bed, I jokingly said, "this might be a good time to check the basement for water"...since it was pouring at the time. Rich just laughed it off saying that we've never had water in our basement in the 7 1/2 years we've been in this house.
Fast forward to this morning when my sweet girl goes down to said basement to feed the cats and returns w/soaking wet socks. She's so sweet...she said, "Mom, I don't think the cats knocked over their water bowl, but there is water all over the floor in the basement." My heart sunk.
I called Rich and said, "Hey, remember last night when I said it'd be a good time to check the basement for water?" All he said was "you've got to be kidding me." That's all he needed to say. I could hear the defeat in his voice and it just about killed me.
If you know me or have followed my blog very long, you're aware that we've had our fair share of issues with this 90+ yr old house of ours. You also know that we're getting ready to put it back on the market. So, of course, something else is going to come up now.
I'm not so self-absorbed to think we're the only ones to ever have water in our basement. I'm not selfish enough to throw myself a pity party when my sweet sister-in-law is literally stranded at her home today b/c a drainage tube that runs under her driveway was washed away last night in flood waters that tore through their creek. I'm not naive enough to think this sort of thing wouldn't happen if we lived in a brand new home. I'm just discouraged. Plain and simple...discouraged.
It seems to be one thing after another w/this old house. Replacing a fence 3 times...a new roof... plumping issues...electrical issues...having to paint the exterior and replace windows b/c our neighbors house caught on fire and damaged our home...an attempted break-in...an actual break-in...there are probably more "things" that I can't think of right now.
I know God has protected us through each and every scary moment that we've encountered here. So, it's not that I've lost my faith in Him. I'm just ready for Him to move us from this trial.
OK, I've got to stop w/the complaining! I've got to trust and believe that God has bigger and better things ahead for my family. I've got to hit my knees and surrender this "thing" to Him who is able to do immeasurable more than all I ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me.
I covet your prayers!

{again with the really}
Wondering what all this beauty is about? Welp, you guessed! More problems w/this wonderful house we're getting ready to put on the market. This time in the bathroom.
Yesterday, I got under our bathroom vanity and noticed about 1/2" of standing water. I quickly emptied the vanity, turned off the water and threw a towel in to sop up the gross water. Then I left it for my man to deal with...cuz that's how I roll! ;)
So, now we have the pleasure of replacing the vanity and counter top before the house is listed in the next week or so. Oh and you should know that we haven't gotten it replaced yet. The kids and I get to be in this house all day, with "just the one?" bathroom that now doesn't have a sink. Eli asked this morning how he was supposed to wash his hands and brush his teeth. I told him to use the bathtub. How's that for ghetto for ya? Seriously, really?!
If I pop in your thoughts anytime, please say a prayer for me. I just might lose it before we get out of this house!
Closing with this...just because it makes me smile!
